Sizing a drain cover
3 min read · ADR Gear

A drain cover only helps if it covers the drain with room to spare. A quick measure takes a minute.
Here is how to size one.
Measure the drain
Measure the width of the drain grate, then measure the flat floor around it.
The mat needs to lie flat, so check for edges or bumps.
Add room
Pick a mat that overlaps the drain on every side, with a few inches to spare.
The bigger the overlap, the better the mat can sit against the floor.
Our sizes
The Neoprene Drain Cover Mat comes in 24 in square and 36 in square. The 24 in size suits a small drain.
The 36 in size gives more overlap.
Check before you order
Sales are final, so check the size first. Our kit guide can help.
The mat is not a promise that a spill will not reach the drain. It helps, and you should check the fit.
Measuring tips
Use a tape measure and write the numbers down in inches. Measure the grate at its widest, then measure how far the flat floor goes on each side. Look for cracks, slopes and raised edges, because a mat sits flat on a flat floor.
The Neoprene Drain Cover Mat is about 3 mm thick and costs $39. Shipping is free on orders of $75 or more. Browse our spill kits to pair it with pads.
