Drain cover mats explained
3 min read · ADR Gear

A drain cover mat is a flat sheet that lays over a floor drain. It helps hold a spill back from the drain while you deal with it.
Here is how it works, and what to know before you buy.
A simple flat mat
The Neoprene Drain Cover Mat is a neoprene-style rubber mat, about 3 mm thick.
You lay it flat over the drain and the weight of the mat sits against the floor.
It helps, it does not promise
A mat helps block a spill. It does not stop every leak, and we say so on the page.
Check the fit before you rely on it.
Pair it with pads
Many people lay the mat over the drain and use absorbent pads on the spill itself.
See our spill kits.
Care
Rinse the mat and let it dry before you fold it.
Store it flat or rolled where it is easy to grab.
Where it fits in a routine
Keep the mat close to the work area, not buried at the back of a cabinet. Lay it out before you start a job that could spill, such as an oil change, and fold it up afterward. Rinse it and let it dry.
The mat comes in 24 in square or 36 in square and costs $39. Measure your drain and the floor around it, and check our kit guide. Because all sales are final, check the fit before you order. The page says the mat helps block a spill, and it is not a promise.
